I'm not sure a bowling league is a valid population sampling for taking a poll. If anything, your poll tells us a lot about the type of people in bowling leagues (since 10 out of 10 either break the law or have broken it)

While gun hunting I always wear blaze vest and hat to, from, and in the stand. While bow hunting during muzzleloader season, I wear vest and hat to and from stand, and only wear the hat in the stand.

Sounds like your buddy ticked someone off.

If he saw the latter of the stand, what did he see of the former of the stand?

As a 85% bowhunter its hard to break the Camo only pattern.. It feels everytime I put on an orange hat I feel I might as well be wearing
Elton john flashy glasses... However its the law and I can't afford a $250 ticket .... I use a Bow /Crossbow all year long with the exception of a few trips to other properties besides mine.. Orange is a Life saver plain and simple.. I don't like it but I do wear it.. It's the other guy I worry about.. I have kids and a Great Woman in my life and the last thing I want is for them to receive the CALL...
You know the call. The one that says You've been killed by another hunter. It's what you leave behind that is the sad part. So please wear it at all times...You don't have to like it but it will prevent the CALL

I am such a paranoiky that I wear an orange vest to and from my Tree Stands during our early muzzle loader and archery season when its not required. I take off my vest once in the stand and put it on a stob within arm's length. The deer don't care. Its movement that spooks them. Why take a chance?

Thanks Liar, you are a good man
to post this, Might save a life.
    .
more orange is probably better than less orange...
    .
I have hunted a lot, bow , rifle, black powder,
    .
it is good to know that folks are
    .
taking note of what "the man" is doing...
    .
IMHO liar is right. They are using the
    NR laws to make money.
    .
    IMHO that is unethical...
    .
but the NR Captain is going to get what
    .
the Captain wants, [same at home ].
    .
    these officers must follow orders...
    .

Just like the seat belt law:
    .
They use it now as a way to stop you,
    .
    and smell your breath,
    .
and they get a guaranteed $ 25 for their trouble...
    .
    It is not right, and
    .
    BTW it ain't constitutional either.
    .
they do not have a "compelling justification".
    .
    burns my backside...

.....Just like the law says wear your seatbelt...I know some people feel its within their constitutional rights to drink while driving, not wear a seatbelt, and ignore blaze orange requirements......

it IS your constitutional right to be an idiot, but not to break laws that may or may not have been enacted to protect said idiot.
