    Default Structure Scan screen shots

Couple of screen shots from today. The fishing sucked but at least I got to play with my new SS, this thing is pretty awesome.I still need to dial it in but I think I got it pretty close.

This is a couple of concrete mooring post for ships, tugs, etc.

    Tire

    Not sure what this is?

    Warm water discharge

    Down scan of same WWD

Two of my favorite, bridge pilings .

I was impressed that I could even see bait sometimes. This was on a channel edge and a tug just passed, you can see the prop wash with bait under it.

    Hey buddy,
looks like you're off and running. Just think, now when you can't buy a bite you have a new toy to play with !!

Loks like you used 455 for most of the shots. What was your opinion of definition between 455 and 800 ?

Rodger--that one you were not sure of--if you were near a known oyster bar that might be what you were looking at with the trough being drag marks from a dredge>

Wen,so far I like 455 better I didn't get to play with it as much as wanted but seems like the 455 gives better detail. What do you think?

I don't believe the area I was in had any oyster bars in the area as far as I know.

    Rodger,
you're looking at something covering a good bit of bottom for sure and from the shadow several feet off the bottom, is some kind of decent structure.I'm guessing that the boat was turning, that will distort the image.
If those aren't some kind of dredge marks than you might be looking at an old wreck. The lines are too defined to be natural unless it's something like a rock ledge, but I can't imagine that would be anywhere in the bay.
Hope you took numbers and can go back and check it sometime.

Nice shots. What make/model is that? I am in the market and that one has caught my eye.

Sunbelt-- it's the Lowrance HDS system with sidescan.(Lowrance calls it "Structure scan")
They just upgrade with some great new features at pretty much the same cost as last year's model.

Here are a couple screenshots of a submerged bridge that are pretty cool. The detail is quite good.

Thanks for posting, I have a couple of questions. I am getting ready to pull the trigger on one of these myself. In the shot where there are four screens, the bottom right with normal sonar is showing returns that on my Ray I would call fish, when I look at the one above it the DI one, the big cloud is the prop wash, the specks under it is bait Is that right? Or are the specks fish? Also, did you get this as an add on, I am still trying to figure out the package that lowrance has LOL

The LSS-1 StructureScan module is an "add on"

With StructureScan, baitfish would show up more like this.

With Lowrance sonar, fish usually look like this, the infamous "fish arch".

Best to buy the HDS & StructureScan as a "bundle". Costs a little less this way. Screen size is the only major diffenence with any HDS. Here is a "bundle" price on an HDS7 Gen 2 and the LSS-1 StructureScan module.

There will be some rebates on these next month according to the Cabela catalog.

The HDS Gen1 series has some rebates now.
