Bragging Rights Leaderboard - 2012 - largest fish by species
I came across a similar bragging rights leaderboard on another fishing site. I thought it would be fun to start one for SRRKC members. The way it works is that if you catch a species not already on the list, or catch a larger fish than the one already listed for a species, you can submit a photo of your fish to me or RodsGirl. We will update the leaderboard. You can catch the fish at any location as long as it is caught on hook and line in a legal manner. No prizes will be awarded for entries here -- it is solely for showing your prowess as an angler. A separate leaderboard post will be set up to show the smallest fish of any species. The leaderboard begins with fish caught on or after January 1, 2012.

If you catch a fish that you think is particularly large or small for its species, please send me the details so I can update the large-fish and small-fish bragging rights leaderboard. I added two new species this morning -- hickory shad and largemouth bass. There are lots of good fish out there of many species. Let's get some new additions to the leaderboards.

Annapolis Angler Wins New Boat: On a blustery summer day approximately $70,000 in cash, prizes and merchandise was handed out at the 2012 Maryland Fishing Challenge as nearly 2,000 people watched at Sandy Point State Park.
John Veil of Annapolis won the grand prize – a boat, motor and trailer from Bass Pro Shops and Tracker Boats. His winning fish? A 13.5-inch white perch. “This was a big surprise!” said Veil in a DNR press release.
Rookie angler John Schultz from Pennsylvania won an all expenses paid fishing trip to the Bimini Game Club provided by the World Fishing Network. Nine anglers split the contest’s cash prize of $25,000, a haul of $2,778 each. Youth winners from 20 fishing rodeos across the state also won exciting guided fishing trips donated by fishing groups and pro guides.
BigTim 320 joined the SRRKC just before the perch tournament. Tim is physically big man -- taller and larger than me. It seems that his fishing talents allow him to catch big fish too.
He sent me a photo today of a massive rainbow trout he caught in Western Maryland this week. It was added to the leaderboard.
He also sent a photo of new first place yellow perch he caught in the Patuxent earlier this year.
Nice going Tim!
