    You know Cundiff feels awful.

Kinda like when you dip the full bushel basket to wet the crabs for the drive home - and basket bottom pulls out.

I have always visualized that happening but have never had it happen.
If you don't go, you won't know and you gotta have bait in the water!
I have terminal Crabiteis and there is no hope.

If you ever feel you have to do that, just place the basket with the crabs in it inside another basket that has flimsy handles.

I was lucky - saw it happen to some one else and learned from their mistake. I use a bucket to pour some water over them.

It was at Wye Landing and guy in knee deep water dunked the bushel a few times to get the crabs wet.

He lifted the basket and yelled as the bottom gave out and the crabs got loose.

Few fast thinking guys grabbed nets and managed to recapture some of the crabs. Some one gave the poor guy a new basket.

The others around all took 4-5 crabs from their baskets and added to the collection.

Basket might not have been topped off but it was real close after all the help every one pitched in.

That was very decent of the other crabbers. I'll bet it was difficult for some to keep from laughing while they were scooping them up.

I usually pour a few gallons of water over my catch then cover them with a blanket or rag of some sort then drench the cloth. I carry extra water to pour on the cloth about half way home to keep it from drying competely. The evaporative effect helps keep the crabs cool. Sometimes when it is extremely hot I place them inside my van and turn the rear A/C on to MAX. That works well too!
