i agree that poaching and other illegal activity will never be totally erradicated, in either the comm or rec sectors.
that being said, i think we can all agree that the damage done to the fishery by one rec and by one comm with an illegal net are on vastly different scales...and therefore need to be handled differently.

i think one of the reasons there is so much fervor over these activities by the comm sector by some on this site is the apparent unwillingness of the group, as a whole, to accept responsibility for these actions.
there is alsoa perceived lack of action, by comms as a group, to try to do something about it.

the sentiments run deep among the recs who have grown tired of groups like the MWA who have historically side-stepped responsibility, or even knowledge of, the illegal activities by its members and don't take any action to bring a stop to these illegal activites.
then there are guys like Capt Buddy, and quite a few others, continually ignore fish & game laws who, even when caught, don't pay for thier transgressions.
i think they're just fed up.

of course the resolution is somewhere in between.

gotta run.....
Lets not pick on Capt. Buddy-- he's a stalwart representative of the commercial fishing industry with impeccable credentials.
And he must have paid a lot of money for those credentials too, because I doubt they come from his courtesy on the water.
