Pickerel

I took my boat out a couple of weeks ago to have it serviced. I keep it at Severn River Swim Club & with the forecast for 60 degrees + I decided to put her back in today. It would have been nice if I got up early enough to fish in the rain but I slept in. Got the boat in around 11 am. The river was nice & flat & even though I knew the wind was coming I decided to head for the creek downriver where John & I were catching a couple weeks ago. Fog/mist on the ride down but not bad & very beautiful. Pulled in the creek half expecting to see a ghostlike John but had it all to myself. Caught 5 in an hour, I nice one, Hooked one more that decided to spit the hook. I was using a 1/16 jig head with a 2" bubble gum curly tail. All fish were around the shoreline. The creek is well protected so I didn't notice the wind pick up even though I knew it was coming. Heard the coast guard broadcast that the front was coming so I high tailed it back up river. Not too bad but wind was blowing pretty good with a pretty good chop. Got back up & ducked into a sheltered creek closer to home port. Picked up 4 more pickerel one on a red/white daredevil with small minnow.Was home by 3 pm. Fun day to be out.

Way to go Pat. Thanks for the good news that the pickerel are still there. I have not pickerel fished in about 3 weeks but may try over the weekend.

Also I'm glad to see that you are initiating posts. Keep it up. I hope you can come to the Feb 1 meeting next Wed and meet some of the other SRRKC anglers.
