zane usually the package will give you a chart showing line size, distance and depth and particular speed. I want to say the 25's run 25 feet with 150' of 30lb mono at 2-3mph. 30's are a LOT bigger but neither is fun to reel in after a long day.
Which size and colors do you use.Stretch lures are not very popular where I normally fish but since fishing oceanside I have heard of alot of fish caught on them.May have to add a couple of them to my trolling spread. How much line do you let out to get desired depth.

Thanks Rich. I think being there early was key but since I had no idea where to start it took a few hrs before we found the bait. We pulled a Cabo Sunset stretch 25 and 30 and a chartreuse 25 as well as a white/chartreuse Sea Draggin' Mojo and two 9er umbrella rigs in green tiger and chartreuse flake. I'm not really sure what the deal is with the Mojos since we don't use them much up here but I just put a single 9 oz head a country mile back on the shot gun and hoped for the best. Every boat I seen was pulling what seemed like a full spread of Mojos. I guess that's how you do it in Dixie. Anyone know how the Lucky Duck and Game Over did? I don't know them but they look like some heavy hitter boats.
This turned out to be a very informative thread!![]()
something that was brought up while we fished sat... i guess us OC boys need a DE lic to fish the area we were in. after all we were de waters, and md does not have a reciprocation agreement with de. beyond 3 miles we can fish without one, thats no longer de. we fish there for tog and such all the time, then return to oc.
just wanted to give a heads up.
Is that correct, I thought in the ocean license requirement pertains to the port you come into. If you are correct then I was in violation for leaving IRI and fishing MD.
Thanks for the clarification, I don't fish inshore much ... Well never fish inshore till last week, guess I need to read more about the rules. Guess line extends due east from the state line. What about DE Bay, do you need NJ license to fish on the other side of the line? Thought you just needed to be compliant with NJ fishing regs, havent fished there in while but used to fish the rips. So it seems that I would need DE, MD and NJ licence if i fished the local inshore waters, that is crazy. Boy much simpler fishing the canyons.
i read it the same way hillbilly does. i guess its all about reciprocation. MD has an agreement with VA. so if i, as a lic MD angler want to fish outta chinco or outta oc and off chinco, i dont need the VA lic. I do need to register in VA though. MD and DE do not have an agreement to my knowledge.
tony, your point about landing is well taken, i think that mostly pertains to creel limits and such. here is an example: MD tog is closed in DEC. DE is open. i cannot leave oc, go north and fish DE state waters and return to oc as my port. similarly, even with a DE lic, i cannot leave iri, drive south in dec, fish in MD state waters and return to iri with tog because the MD season is closed. sure, you could arrive iri with them, but if you were caught with tog in the cooler in md waters yopu would be illegal, DE lic or not.
as of 2011, NJ does not have a saltwater lic. DE anglers need to register in NJ before fishing there. dunno if it has changed for 2012 but here is something off the web:
Delaware anglers are advised to register with New Jersey (May 4)
DOVER (May 5, 2011) – The Division of Fish & Wildlife advises Delaware anglers who fish in the New Jersey portion of the Delaware Bay and River, or in New Jersey’s coastal waters, that they are now required to sign up for New Jersey’s Saltwater Recreational Registry Program. The New Jersey registry, which is free, went into effect May 4, and anyone fishing in the state’s marine or tidal fresh waters, or landing their catch in New Jersey, must have the new registration certificate. The only exceptions are anglers under 16 years of age or anyone fishing on a New Jersey-registered for-hire vessel (charter or head-boat). Regardless of what license or permit an angler may hold from another state (including Delaware), or from the federal government, they still are required to register with New Jersey when fishing there. The only way to register for the certificate is through the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection website: www.saltwaterregistry.nj.gov. (Please note: Unlike with the Delaware F.I.N. program, there is no toll-free number to call for anglers without Internet access.) Anglers who register will need to print out their registration certificate and have it available for inspection should they be asked by New Jersey enforcement officers.
oh, almost forgot! md used to NOT require a fishing lic to fish outta oc. that has now changed a lic is needed now. that changed last year i think.
