Good work in that mess. We had no bites. 23' boat out there today is crazy.
Left the dock around 5:45 following two big boats from OIFC. They headed down to the 500 where apparently they had caught the yellowfin saturday. Got there just over the 100fa line and they decided to troll south to some better looking water around the 350 they said. I decided to turn north and see what it looked like up the line. Started hitting some scattered grass and up around the 560 ran into about 3 acres of two tones. Circled them a few times and didn't see any marks under them so we continued north. Got up to the southesast edge of the point and saw a few scattered two tones and the shotgun goes off. Get it out of the rocket launcher on the top, get a few cranks on it and comes unglued. Start circleing and ten minutes later a long rigger goes off, Bring in a 25lb yellowfin. Let the few boats out there know we found a few tuna bites up around the point. Then about 15 minutes later the shotgun goes off again and is peeling alot faster than the last two, not like bluefin fast but pretty sure it is a nicer yellowfin. Fight him for about two minutes and he pulls loose, starting to think the green machine has rubber hooks on it. A few other boats showed up and sounded like they snagged a few but were looking for a nicer class of fish so they headed up the line. By 10 am the wind really started huffin and the 2-3ft that noaa predicted quickly turned into 4-7ft about 5 seconds apart. Not much fun in the 23' seacraft. Stayed in that area between the point and tuna hole for a while getting some nice marks from 50-75ft. but they wouldn't come up. Heard a few boats above the hole spotting bluefins pushing on top but didn't sound like they were hungry. Water temp was 70-74 everywhere we were today. Finally got tired of the a$$ whoppin and knew it was gonna be a long ride home so we called it around 12:30. Didn't set the world on fire with 1 for 3 on the yf but it was nice to get out and see some life and hear some drags peel in the warm water!..................Chris

Sorry you didnt have better fishing out there today but pretty work on your bites ! The reports sounded slow for all. Lot of water spread out right now & the pretty hotter stuff that had held the Yellowfin on Sat looks like it shoved out today. We didn't go today but are gonna try tommoro & Thursday. Looks like a flip of the coin as to where I will set out.
Thanks for the report.
I just got back last night and I'm already planning the next adventure.![]()
Only the truly ate up understand the maddness.

man, good work getting some bites. sounded pretty sporty out there....
Nice work and thanks for posting the report! We're trying for Saturday. Sounds like there are fish around, just not as concentrated as a few days ago. Nice work on finding your bites!

Weather looking nice for Saturday thus far. Would love to hear some bite reports. I guess it's too early for the bft to be consistently schooled up heavy. Planning on spending 4 days down there in about 3 weeks. Hopefully will be in high gear by then.

Ear...I will be down there on the weekend of the 18th is that when you will be down there?
Unfortunately no, Feb 25-28. I will be down there staying at a friend of a friends house in PC. 40 ft boat slip! I am off work that preceding weekend. Don't know if I could swing a trip then or not but will certainly keep it in mind.
Anyone else going to be down there?
You on this one Codfather?

Thanks for the report. We are looking at the weather forecast like a couple of hawks. We caught our first BFT last year on 1/31 out of HI jigging, but we are not sure what to expect now. We plan on going out of HI and target blackfins and see if we run into anything else.
