Mark -
On behalf of the SRRKC members, we thank you and Skip for your leadership and service over the past several years. The plugs are a small token of the club's appreciation.
Bill and Dee Pierson have a small shop attached to their home in Perkiomenville, PA. They hand make these beautiful cedar plugs. Bill's mother "Mom" watches TV during the day and ties the hair on the trailing hooks. It is truly a family business. I have visited their shop three times in the past 5 years. It is dark, cramped, and redolent with cigarette smoke, but the artistic products that come out of that room are amazing.
What Mark's photo does not show is that Dee handwrote "SRRKC" and Mark's name on the plug before the finish coats went on. This is truly a one-of-a-kind plug.
Bill is an excellent fisherman who uses his own plugs to catch many species of fish across North America. He showed me some of his plugs that are speckled with teeth marks for catching muskies. Although many anglers think the plugs are too pretty to throw at fish, they do catch fish when given the chance.
They are constantly experimenting with new products. I purchased several new bluefish lures from them that are being tested this year. I look forward to summertime when I can test them out myself.
I have no financial ties to their company, but like to give them some recognition for their high quality work. If anyone is interested in ordering plugs, take a look at www.piersonplugs.com.
