On a very calm weekday in summer - might be OK - but other then that - I'd be leery.
Bay water until June is still considered cold - same thing after Sept.
Only takes one large wake from a big yacht or worse - container ship , to ruin your day.
i see on you tube all these guys in the bay in kayaks.i was wondering what u guys thing about taking a 14ft canoe with stabilizers on it out in the bay to fish the pilings

What could be more mundane than dying of old age or of natural causes when there is death by misadventure to be pursued ? Skip
We fish the open bay in sit on top kayaks. A wave can come over a sit on top kayak and go right out through the scuppers w/out swamping the kayak. In a canoe, if a wave crashes over the boat, your sunk... Believe it or not most sit on top kayaks are more seaworthy than most small boats. Also, when we fish out there in the winter we wear drysuits or waders and drytops, if we go in the water, we will still be ok...

I've been using a 16" Oldtown canoe solo in the Bay for years, BUT only in the side rivers and creeks, never out in the main part of the Bay. I frequent the inner Patapsco, Magothy, Susky Flats and a few other similar places. I also pick my days very carefully. If there is any doubt about conditions then I don't go.
hit the back rivers in a canoe would prob be the safest. Like skip said a wave from a big cargo ship or yacht will prob sink ya. I can never forget this day.. my buddy and i were out in a 23 ft hydra sport just having a good ol time fishing and i happened to look up and a 6 ft wave from one of the ships was coming right at us. I told the captain right away (we were anchored and it was comin towards our starboard side) so we pulled anchor and swung right into it. The front of the boat dipped under and came up. Scared the crap outta me lol but it drained quickly. Luckily it was a hot day too so everyone dried quickly.
I can't even take a question like that seriously.
The wind speed can change very fast and the bay goes from calm to snotty quickly. Sometimes it makes me worry in my 22 ft with 200hp. I can get back to land quickly but, what happens when you just have a paddle? It's not worth the risk, I would stay in the rivers. Imo
????????.......
Google how many folks died on the bay this year alone on the bay in real boats.
