what size jigs should i use for blackfins thamck in advance Paul
200-300gram jigs do the trick for me.
1gram per foot of water
they were biting 200g benthos yesterday.
Just enough to get down to where the fish are in a relatively straight line. Very current and depth dependent.

I Agree!!! Gotta get that jig straight down fast. Casting into the tide also helps greatly in getting the jig to end up straight down under the boat.
If the sharks are thick you can change the hook cord to wire cable & then heat shrink tube. My go to is 9oz knife shape down there.
I just got back last night and I'm already planning the next adventure.![]()
Only the truly ate up understand the maddness.

t_hoang02,
How did you make out Saturday ? We're going tomorrow.........
thanks for the input i have 250 to 300 gram jigs that i use for bluefins just wasnt sure if they where to big for the blackfins since i have never tried to catch them. Paul
they eat the same jigs. its more about getting it to themand alot to do with the rod you use real jigging rods are set up to jig near a specific jig wait. I use a 450g rod for bft and usually 280-300g jig any lighter it doesnt have action and a 250-300g rod for blackfin with 200 plus g jigs. just know there might be scattered bft in the mix.
