Mercury optimax 225 love it 860 hours
just shy of 800 hours on my 2004 Yamaha 225s.
Just ticked over 2000 hours on my 2006 Yamaha F250. Only 2 weeks of my 6 year warranty left. Hoping for at least 5000 before having to repower but time will tell.

For a boat motors, how many hours is considered "a lot" ?
I have 24 years (knock on wood) on my Volvo out drive and I hope for more!!
Not exactly sure how many is on mine but my brother in law is a commercial crabber and 2 years ago he had his 06 Yamaha F150 in the shop getting a fuel pump put on it and the plugged up to get the hours and he had right at 9000 hours on it. That isn't a typo by the way.

I have heard that 1000 hrs on a 2 stroke is the norm, I have 2300 hrs on my '03 Johnson 90hp, a new power pack this past Fall was the first "major" work done on it, runs like a scalded dog...
