My 2002 Yamaha OX-66 SS II 225s have 1,200 hours on them. The best part about them is that they are simple and it is very easy to work on them.

Twin 115, 2003, Suzuki -- 3,100 hours on each. Regular maintenance, 2 rebuilt starters and that's about it.

50 hp Honda 4 stroke - 2000 year model - 4826 hours on it when I sold it. Best motor I ever had, and wish I hadn't sold it.

I have twin Yamaha 250's and have 1500 hours on them. And in a relatively short time.

if maintenance has been first rate, then expect 1800 - 2300 +/-hours before something serious breaks or corrosion kills it. not running wide open all the time also helps. use ring free once a year and storage fluid all the time, not to mention good quality oil.

    This is an interesting thread.

I haven't done the averages or mean but it looks like 100-200/year as typical, from eyeballing the spreadsheet (thanks for that).

The Yamaha owner's manual refers to service intervals of "1 year/100 hours" so I think that indicates the manufacturer's projected typical use. I'm a little over that since I bought a used 2003 Yam 150 and put an hour meter on it when I bought it. From the PO I think the previous use was a lot less. Good motor but I did just replace the LU.

Some of you need to go boating more.

Latest stats 2-22-12, When someone said they had two or more engines I added additional rows for each engine. Also not everyone listed a year that is why some do not have a year.
