    Default What if.....

I know there are several folks on this board who are from Gloucester, like myself. I havent seen or heard of any angling clubs in good ole G-town, so i was wondering. What if we G-town folks were to start one?

Always thought we could muster enough interest to have a club here-much like the Bull islanders did a few years ago.

    Default I agree...

Posted something along these lines last year, but did not get alot of responses. With that said, I think would be great, count me in.

It could happen, but it's much more work than you probably think. We only have 25 members in our hunt club and it's clear every year that most members don't want to be on the board, or have any extra responsibilitie, so I could only imagine the difficulties in a large club. If you want to get together and meet at Jenny's every so often and talk fishin', count me in.

The PSWSFA is not too far from here and they are well established and have great meeting and functions, not to mention the Flounder Bowl.

No way i could run it. I already have too much on my plate. Im not opposed to help in the setup of something like that. Perhaps a facebook page to see the interest in it. Meeting at Jenny's every so often also not a bad Idea. Plus Jenny's has great food.

I belong to a club who's name I wont mention. 45 members, 4 officers (pres, treas, newsletter, events). Typical meeting attended by 10 or so. Events had to be cancelled due to lack of member interest. largest number came to our twice per year banquets, presumably to get their annual dues' moneys worth. Not much into fishing with each other. Disappointing, a ton of work for nothing. i quit after 2 years of banging my head into the same wall. I dont think that my experience was atypical, judging by others here.

Not sure if I'd join but I am certain that a few of us from BIAC would make the trip to a few of the meeting each year. If you guys see fit not to create a club come on down to Bull Island. We'd be glad to have you visit or join. I pretty much have only fished with other club members since I joined 3 years ago. Our meeting is next Monday evening and we have made a few changes we feel are for the better. We'd love to see you guys there!!

Started a Facebook page. We will see if the interest is there. If we start getting folks posting information and events then maybe we can morph it into a Gloucester Anglers Club
