Fished it alot years ago holds togs as well as bass, If you can hang over the wheelhouse and drop down in cabin you might find old rubber lips. Theres a few more hangs near by the DOXI GIRL, Birch lake and theres a couple old sailboats near by.

    Roddy,

I dove the Doxie Girl last fall before I deployed. A fair amount of Taugs, Sea Bass and Flounder. The hull is intact but all structure above the main deck is gone. Small amount of debris on the north side amidship. The deck has quite a few openings, ladder wells, fish boxes, etc, and lots of interior space. It's a perfect place for Taugs to hang out.
I marked the Bow and Stern with lift bags to get a GPS fix before I departed. I don't have the Log with me here but I'll have my Wife forward my GPS Log and I can provide.

    All the best,
    Will

Save the gas if you are wanting Togs, unless you are just looking for something different to do. CBBT to Cape Henry is good right now.

Doxie Girl is a small wreck in 55 ft of water. For fishing there is room for about one anchored boat...no more than than. The wreck is located approx 14 miles east of Cape Charles; I have fished it many times a few years ago for seabass in summer; sometime on rough days, I just could not locate it. With the newer wide arrayj depth recorders you may do ok. I did catch one large flounder there one summer using wire line and a bucktail , long before wreck fishing with live bait, for flounder was popular.

The Birch Lake is right much further north. It is a pretty long way; however it is a wood wreck and I have been told tautog like wood wrecks???; I fished once there many years ago just to be sure I had it in my GPS...the Birch Lake is in two pieces about 50 yards apart. I caught lots of small togs. If they are still there they should be big by now??? That was the only time I fished; there were just so many other places more convenient. The CBBT is your best bet. Plenty of structure at CBBT and not too crowded. With the price of gasoline predicted to be $5.00 soon....the CBB T will become less crowded and all the wrecks will become unreachable !!
The Chilore( Cape Henry Wreck ) holds lots of togs, but the current changes quckly-- lots of boats that fish the Chilore, many boats make it crowded and uncomfortable when one decides to de-hook the wreck !!

Bob, thanks for the comeback. How far north is the Birch? That is one that I am not familiar with, but would consider making the run just to check out something new.
