I received email alerts from MSSA & Boat US. It was easy to do. Everyone should do this.
Like the rest of you I do not want to have to pay more for my outdoor activities if I don't have to - hunting, fishing/boating.*
Follow this link to the MSSA website and let your voice be heard.

It couldn't be easier - fill in your info on the lower right and enter your signature at the end of the letter.* After you hit send it will tell you all of the people that the letter went to based on your location.*
Maybe some group will do something like this for the proposed hunting fee increases?
Best,
Jim

I know some may not agree but a fee hike is probably in order but probably not the size that they want. Just like the toll hikes all over again. Aim high and settle for what they really want. Anyway, I sent an amended email regarding this.
IMHO - DNR should raise the fee to $20.00 per year for all boats over 14 feet and be done with it. Just be 100% sure money stays within the DNR. Some will complain but $20.00 a year will not be too painful.
Then plan another raise in 5 years or so to keep up with raising prices.
I still question how the fee stayed at $12.00 for so many years. Fishing license prices went up - why not boat fees ?
What could be more mundane than dying of old age or of natural causes when there is death by misadventure to be pursued ? Skip
Actually heard back from my local delegate. He is working for an increase but not one as large as stated. It was a pleasant surprise to get a response to my email.
You're damn right I sent a letter and an e-mail...
A slight increase is warranted but to the level that is proposed is ridiculous. $125 for my 17'er is excessive. Thrown in the "bend over and take it" for the tolls and the BS fuel increases. The golden rule is definately in play here. He who has the gold makes the rules. All of these increases effect the avg joe middle class more and more. The poor don't boat and the rich don't care. Until they can be accountable for the money we give them and show us where it goes I will remain skeptical of any increases.

I also rec'd a response and was informed by Stephen Hershey that he is not in favor of this bill either. Hopefully we can make a change, so write your congressman.

Response from my local delegate John Wood ...
Thank you for your recent e-mail requesting my opposition to House Bill 1307 (State Boat Act-Fees and Requirements).
House Bill 1307 is currently assigned to the House Rules Committee and to date has not been cross-filed in the Senate.
I am opposed to this legislation and will be voting accordingly in the event it passes favorably out of committee and comes before the House of Delegates for a vote.
I appreciate your taking the time to share your thoughts on this issue with me.
Sincerely,
John F. Wood, Jr.
