How can you guys complain about spending less than $100 dollars for hunting in the state of Maryland ? It cost over $100 dollars to fill up up your truck. DNR and NRP costs are going up. Suck it up and stop B.....ing.

it is not so much about bitching as it is principle....if every dollar we as sportsman spend go to benefit us, then an increase would somewhat be tolerable, but you got a tax on gas, proposed increase in boat registration, increase of county boat ramp fees, ect, ect ect, at some point it has to stop. you also have retired people who are on fixed income that enjoy the outdoors as well. the people that are elected to run this state have found a new group of people, the maryland outdoors men and women to target to fund their agendas

MoM $100.00 to fill tank is bad enough - so we should expect to get hosed on everything ?

Not saying it's right, but consider this:

    In PA (I believe):
Resident Adult Hunting: $20.70 (1 buck, small game, turkey)
    Resident Archery: $16.70
Resident Muzzleloader: $11.70 (allows harvest of a doe instead of a buck in late season if not harvested a buck - only a short inline doe only early season then traditional season late)
Resident Antlerless Deer: $6.70 (per deer), typical non-weekend warrior hunter will get 2 - $13.40

    Total: $55.80

More expensive with only 3 deer allowed.

if this license increase pays for another patrol boat looking for illegal nets then its well worth it, if it puts another officer in the field to catch illegal hunting, its well worth it, if it pays for real scientific studies to adjust quotas then its worth it.

I completely understand how we feel that 'sportsmen' are being targeted, but consider this - why tax all residents to cover costs when you can tax those that specifically utilize the resource? If you told some 'conservative' joe schmoe who's never boated or hunted in his life that he was paying taxes so I could launch my boat at the local ramp and go shoot gadwalls, he'd be wicked pissed.

like i said, if all the monies we as sports man and woman pay got to benefit us, than we cold tolorate an increase in fees, but to double or triple them??, and as far as asking non sportsmen to pay for things they don't use, well we all pay way too much taxes and fees for social services that hardly any of the working class tax payers use, so enough said, i personally love my hunting and fishing, so if i have to take up were the sun don't shine than so be it, i will hold my nose and swollow it, and the dirty politicians know we all will pay it, best wishes to all for a safe and productive 2012 season....i am done...

If the funds are used for habitat, education and enforcement it would be tolerable. But I assume the money will go into the general fund and be wasted.

My children were taught that the State of MD is a microcosm of the United States. That is certainly true of the political system since in both cases an extremist minority imposes its will on a moderate majority rendered nearly powerless by the systematic corruption of generations of self serving politicians.
