I am fortunate to have so many good friends that like to hunt.I was invited a hunt club yesterday in Southhampton county which is one area where I hunt but a little farther across the county.I carried 11 beagles6 broke dogs and 5 7 month old pups and they screamed all day long.I couldnt believe the dogs stayed after the rabbits relentless in 30 plus mph winds.Beagles went out of hearing a few times but always managed to bring the rabbit back to the gun.We killed 5 before lunch and jumped several more but missed a few and couldnt get in front of some also. Also introduced a youngster to rabbit hunting and he bagged his first rabbit. He was ticled and enjoyed himself for sure.We didnt set any records but managed 7 rabbits and jumped 12.No sheds yesterday but I was looking. After the hunt the boys from Joyner had the fire barrel Rolling out some heat and the cold beer was flowing. They also invited me for dinner,a low counrty boil, jumbo shrimp, potatoes, corn and sausage and it was off the hook!It was a great way to end the season which goes out wed but unless I can pull a fast one I will have to work.We left some rabbits for seed,so hopefully we can do it again next year.
Sounds like a great end to the season,I know you,ve paid your dues!
