I don't believe in any of the scent control clothing. I believe it is a great marketing job done by the hunting industry. I had a scent lock suit and don't think it made any difference. Just try to be scent free with your clothing, boots and your body and always hunt according to the wind. If scent control clothing really works, why can you smell a fart with them on? A deer has a nose as good or better than a hound and a drug sniffing dog can smell a pound of cocaine placed inside of a gas tank in a car fully submerged in gasoline. I don't think a little carbon lining is going to make any difference whatsoever. Just my $0.02.
I totally agree. I keep my hunting clothes outside between hunts. Let them get rained on. Shower with scent free stuff before the hunt. Avoid garlic or onions before a hunt. put the clothes on at the hunt spot. Spray down. No tobacco during or just before the hunt. I've had deer come so close, downwind and not smell me ( except for when they do).
Scent control clothing definitely helps but many other things help more. Wash body and clothes in scent free soap, spray scent killer and hunt the wind!.............Gary
im a big believer in spraying down my clothes. I dont smoke and i barely eat while i the stand. The fabric feels very soft and a lot less noisy than my gear now. I was looking at it for something warm. I appreciate the input
I used to believe in the charcoal stuff but I always stayed clean, kept my clothing outside in plastic bags inside a tote, always rewashed when sweaty, etc, etc.
Then I found a series of articles of charcoal activated clothing that from a scientific standpoint debunked it. What does work from a scientific standpoint is the systems that utilize silver threads, and of course keeping yourself and the clothing clean. Mine clothing ges aired out after everyhunt and then repacked in plastic bags and totes. EVERY TIME.
Check out these links and read for yourself. I have these articles printed out in hardcopy from a few years ago so it took me a while to find links to them. There's one more he wrote on silver fiber clothing and I can't find a link although I do have the hardcopy.
"The Chesapeake does not impress those who know it best as the grandest or most of anything. For all its size and gross statistics, it is an intimate place where land and water intertwine in infinite varities of mood and pattern."

Many guys do the scent suit, scent wash, spray down and then go to the gas station and fill up in their hunting boots on the way to hunt. Ever done it???.Anything you do to avoid scent is a good thing. It is just that some are better and cheaper mthan others. Hunt the wind...............Gary
All I know is I got busted many times in my first 2 years of deer hunting, any time a deer got downwind from me. Ever since I started a scent elimination process, I have deer approach me from 360 degrees, I NEVER have to "hunt the wind". I hunt where I want to hunt.
This includes carbon fiber underlayers and outerlayers that go into the dryer after each hunt, as well as my non-carbon clothing, dried after each hunt and into a XXL ziplock. I shower before each hunt w/ scent elimination soap, scent-free antiperspirant, dress in the field, and spray myself (especially boots and waist down) w/ scent elimintion spray, and chew pine scent gum.
Now, whether its the clothes, the shower, the spray, who knows, but together they all add up to success in getting close to deer.
Now, don't be sold on the "Mack Daddy" line. Just keep your eye open and most of those lines (Scent Blocker, Scentlock) will go on 50% sale at Cabelas.
