Yes you can, connect them with an ethernet cable and both will work just fine. I'm assuming your talking about two hds units. If one has say a navionics chip for the chartplotter that can not be shared between the two.I don't consider that a problem though,if i had two running i'd probably have the gps on one and fishfinder on the other. If one of units went down you could put the chip in the other and keep on seeing the same detailed maps.

I know that you can run up to three units from your structure scan ducer and black box with ethernet cables. Just checked this out for a second unit and only a cable is needed. Not sure about the standard ducer and depth finder. I am going to install a second ducer for my second HDS unit because sometimes ducers quit or get funky.

Lowrance has a new number for customer service. They are typically very good and could answer your question easily. The new number is 800-628-4487. They will ask for your incident number. Just ignore it--you do not need one.

As stated in the posts above, it is possible. I am speaking in terms of HDS units. You just need the network expansion module and an additional cable. This will allow you to connect 5 devices. Here is a link to some information from Lowrance's website http://www.lowrance.com/Products/Marine/Broadband-Sounder-and-Ethernetworking/Navico-Expansion-Port-2. You also have the ability to connect 3 units together if you purchase the structurescan system as Bill stated.

It states that you can transmit sonar display/control on HDS-M series chartplotters when networked with HDS sonar displays. You could save a little if you bought a HDS-M chartplotter as your second unit. Just keep in mind that you must have this networked with a HDS sonar display for it to work. If your sonar dies, then you will not have any sonar. If you intended the second unit to also be a back sonar, I would not recommend getting a HDS-M chartplotter. I only mention this option because HDS units are not cheap. Another option to help save money would be to get a HDS Gen 1 as your second unit. You just will not be able to use the structuremap feature on you the Gen 1 unit.
