Default Buggs Bash, Butcher Creek Report

Can't tell you who won or what was caught but I can tell you neither Ron or I did. Everyone went 9 ways to the wind to fish their favorit creek and we went down into Butchers. Big mistake. There was a Bass club with about 30 or so boats which launched about 7am from the Rudd's ramp and the man at Buggs Island B&T said a 200 boat outing was going out of South Bend. It was so bad in Butchers from the main lake all the way back up to above the old RR bridge where Fishdoc caught his over 2lb last week I just don't know where to find them.We left at 2pm to make sure we were out of the way before the bass boats began coming in. What few fish we had we put back in the biggest being a white bass. Had a few new faces show up from the other board and we were glad to meet them. Talked to a few bass fisherman and they said they were having the same kind of day as we. Water temp was 59 in lower Butchers early in the day and we left 63.5 water in upper Butcher's when we left. Water was fairly clear maybe a little stain but full of trash.

Sorry yall didnt do so well... everyone seemed to say they were slow.. I had 26 crappie with only 7-8 over 10.5" but had two citation White bass, big fat ones, I thought it was a 3 lb crappie at first! haha two at one time on telescopic canepoles. Got em weighed and got the papers at bobcats. I had a blast.... good seeing everyone!

It was a slow day for me. I worked my butt off to catch 15 crappie. I had two at 1lb 6oz and one at 1lb 3oz. I stopped into Rushing Creek on my way to Eastland and wasted an hour there without so much as a bite, I picked up 8 in Eastland then tried the Carter Branch briefly without any luck, stuck my head into Panhandle for a short bit with no luck so then I worked my way up Rudds and got the other 7. The first two in Eastland were 15' down over brush and then I got 6 around 5' down near brush in water 12' deep. I worked the shallows in Rudds like a bass fisherman and all 7 were caught in water near 6' deep. I couldn't get any crappie in the real shallow water. I did best casting Cajun Cricket BGBS.

Know what you mean Bennett about thinking you had on a 3lb crappie. When Ron set the hook on the white bass he caught, which we did not weight but it had plenty of shoulders on her; he was thinking he had a cat fish on. After playing the fish a bit the fish came close enough to the surface we got a glimps of it's color. My first thought was; "Crap, we're going to have to go the the weight in." But as it turns out, that was not the case. You having two on at one time must have been something else. Way to go on winning the bash.

Yea, about 1:30 yesterday afternoon I began humming a few bars of one of my favorit John Denver songs. Tells the whole story of my fishing day.
