Once rigged tandems are wrapped around the reel and stored on the rod, spares are pre-rigged and wrapped up on sections of the thick pool noodles, then put in a bucket or box....keep white and chartruse separate or your colors will bleed.

Hey thanks for all of the replies. I have used the pool noodles before on smaller tandems. I will try it on the bigger ones. I like the blue painter tape idea too.

I asked this question to Georgie at Tylers Tackle one day. "What is the best way to store tandems" -His response: "just throw them away and come back in here and buy new ones"

Wrap the leaders, twist tie, then hang on the rim of a bucket with the lures on the inside. I put notches on the bucket rim to keep em in place.

Re-post from a previous thread response:

I usually store mine on submerged stumps, rock piles, old crab pots, bridge pilings etc.

The big leader wheels work just fine. Hang the big lure a foot of it so you can control the weight and then wrap the leader on. the 3-way just guides on and wrap the long leader in the groove between the 3-way and the edge of the leader wheel. stretch the mono tight and the hook on the small lure will catch on the wheel ribs, then do the same for the big lure. Every once in awhile the leaders are just the right length that the hooks of both baits get in each others way, but just re-tie the small lure to remedy this. They stay compact, organized and, most imprtantly, untangled and you are not messing with twist ties or bags or what not with the wind blowing and the boat rockin.

the best way is to use a bob-a-long tandem case and secure the coils with curlies.
