There are several ramps closer to the CBBT than Peterson's (16th St). Crab Creek Ramps on Shore Drive is a lot closer if you're fishing the CBBT.
I am coming from western Virginia to fish near the CBBT and would appreciate any information on good boat launches near by. I have found a public launch in Hamptonn Roads located between I64 and I664. Launching from here would require me to pass under the bridge at Chesapeake Ave (16th St) and I am not certain I would fit with a T-top. Anyone familiar with this launch? Thanks in advance.

Wallaces Bait and Tackle.
Google it and they have a face book page. They have a fule dock, full tackle shop w/ all your bait needs, a nice set of ramps that are free to launch, huge parking lot, they open at 5am, you don't have to fight the HRBT Tunnell and traffic in VB, don't risk the parking lot at Lynnhaven being full ( I hear that is an issue on weekends, and there is a launch fee). Call Randy at (757) 851-5451

I would not use Peterson's, bad part of town and a further to the CBBT. Like has been said the ramp by Wallace's has plenty of parking ,good ramp and the tackle store is right there as well as one a half mile before the ramp. Messick Point in Poquoson is also an optoin but you don't have the convience of having a tackle shop right at the launch or any where close. The Lyynhaven ramp is good but why go through the HRBT if you can avoid it.
Your best bet for sure ^^^^^

Rannow01 -check your PMs.
The closest ramp to the CBBT is Crab Creek where RT 60 (Shore Drive) crosses Lynhaven Inlet. Little Creek Inlet has two ramps. One at Cobb's Marina and one at Little Creek Naval Base, which requires an ID.
I agree that Peterson's is not a good choice.
What size boat? Where are you planning on staying while you are down here?
18.5 ft Maycraft. Not sure where to stay yet. Can you recommend a good spot?

check out the map. Also, it's probably not out of the question that you could contact Randy at Wallaces and he might have a place that you could leave the boat over night, that would make your choice of hotels easier by not having to worry about parking for the boat/trailer. He may also know a good place for you to stay.
