    Default Shad Flies

The shad fishing bug is beginning to get to me and I have been tying a few flies. I usually fish a Joe Bruce Hickory Shad fly which i modify with a little crystal flash. I was wondering what others use a favorite go to fly for shad??

Wayne and Ken, OMC has given me just enough instruction to actually give it a go and try tying flies like those you've posted. As always thanks for all the info!!!

Thanks for the kind words on the shad fishing piece in the CCA newsletter.

I fished DC today and got my first shad on a fly (Stafford Bridge) early this morning. The water temp today was 56 degrees and a little off color, perfect for shad fishing. The fish are on the move and in a hurry, so if you want to get together let me know. JB and I will there Wednesday if you can make it. In reality my first fish today was a carp, then 4 mud shad that I snagged at the fish ladder. This is the first year ever that I have seen mud shad that far up and going through the fish ladder.
