    Default New to Kilmarnock

    Hello all,
I am new to the norther neck area of the bay. My family has purchased a home on prentice creek and I will move my fishing habit here. I was a regular in the York and spent every weekend off last year in Wachapreague chasing flounder. Just wanted to say hello and see if there were any tips for a newcomer to this area.

    Thanks

Welcome. There's lots of great people here that will help you. I recommend you join the Northern Neck Anglers Club. The NNAC has seminars and tournaments throughout the year. It's a great club that encourages anglers to share info and fishing together.

BTW, if you're interested in a Rockfishing trip on the Potomac, I'll trade you a trip there for a trip to Wachapreague for Flounder!

BSMI, welcome to the board. I also fish out of the Kilmarnock area, Henry's Creek. If you need a boat ramp Chesapeake boat basin has 1 at the end of Waverly rd. in town.
Looks like a good fishing boat for the area. Pick your days and will be alright. I have been able to catch almost every species I wanted within a 20 mile radius of the area.Good Luck and let me know if you need any advice,

Thanks for the ramp info. I can see a boat ramp across the creek from our new house. I dont know if it is public yet. We are on Ditchley Rd, I believe the ramp is on Prentice dr.

I join Mushy and Capt Dave in inviting you to join the Northern Neck Anglers Club. It is a great group with a wealth of fishing knowledge and experience fishing the waters of Chesapeake Bay, Potomac River and Rappahannock River and various creeks and marshes in the Northern Neck area. The club has established a Fishing Partners list to provide additional fishing opportunities for members, a great opportunity for an angler new to the area. The tournaments throughout the fishing season gives members an additional incentive to get out to fish those weekends and compete for tournament awards and angler of the year/best of species year end awards. You can find a membership application at the following web address:

Another plus about Chesapeake Boat Basin is that they are a Northern Neck Anglers Club tournament weigh in location.
