Needed to finish up a few last minute details on the boat before launching so we got a late start. Lines in the water about 10:00 just south of Bloody Point. Ran 4 off the boards and two deep off the boat. While setting the 4th rod we get our first hook up. Lipped a 36"er for a quick picture and back in she went. She hit a single John Deer green 6 oz 80' off the board. Next fish took a 6 oz / 8 oz white tandem 60' off the board. Had a bit of a lull while we waited for the tide to change. After about an hour or so a 4 oz / 6oz chart tandem got hit hard and peeled quite a bit of drag. After putting up a good fight we finally boated a 40"+ fish for a quick picture. My son's personal best. Our 4th fish took the same 4 / 6 chart tandem. All fish were caught in 45' - 60' of water. All were between 36" & 41" and loaded with sea lice. In addition to the 4 we released we lost three others and had one takedown that didn't come tight. No stinger hooks hurts the catch ratio but it's the right thing for C&R.
Great way to start the season. Had the bay to ourselves and really didn't see any swells over 2'. Most of the day was 1' - 2'ers, not bad at all. Looking forward to fishing again next Friday.
