Default Question - Mono to Fluoro

I'm having problems getting knots to join Seaguar fluorocarbon to Rio Saltwater IGFA mono (hard). What do you use?

Default Question - Mono to Fluoro

I'm still having a devil of a time with this stuff. Biminis with double surgeon's loops in the double line hold fine. I'm having about a 50% success rate with the uni-to-uni and triple surgeons for the mono-to-fluoro.

Simplify your leaders. I bet if you only use double sugeons your knots will test 90% of line breaking strength.

Once you have it down pat then get fancy with your knots. I tie all kinds of knots at home but, Nightime, wet and cold I only use double sugeons knots.

Default Question - Mono to Fluoro

For surgeon's knots a good pair of pliers that does not tear the mono is key. After I slime the knot with saliva and pull it hand tight, I will iteratively snug up the knot, pulling on the two tags and the two leads, until I have it good and tight. Final step is a quick yank test to ensure it is sound and seated.

Surgeon's knots are worthless if they are not seated properly.
