Thursday is a designated day of fishing for me....I had grand plans of taking the kayak out onto the Potomac, Rapp, or James for shad, but that's a washout with all the rain. *sigh* Same with the Susky Flats, I was hoping to do some paddling up there but I bet it's chocoloate milk with plenty of floaters by now...
I have a few other ideas:
1) Magothy (near Severna Park) for pickerel/perch...but I don't know how all this rain will muddy up that stretch. I expect that's a muddy mess, too. OMC, any input?
2) Mountain brookie streams...don't know how they're fishing right now, but the effects of the rain will likely be gone by Thursday, and with the warm weather forecast the brookies could be hopping in the afternoon.
3) Local stocker streams: Pax, Hunting, etc. Any ideas?
Anyway, I solicit you guys for any other ideas for fishing or input on the above.
Feel free to post or send me a bmail.

da da.....[wink]
I was thinking of Thursday fishing trip also, however everything is ether flooded or mudded out, what’s a boy to do?
brook trout, nice small stream, good hike, no crowds.... brookies definitely.
Morgan Run was stocked yesterday. Water is reportedly high but not out of control. Those fish should have their bearings and appetites by tomorrow.
doug,
no doubt severn and magothy are fishable, I can give you specifics if your inclined... also renting a boat on the reservoirs you could kick butt on pickeral. Gunpowder has been fishing well with stoneflies hatching well.

OM,
Drove back from PA yesterday afternoon. Streams in Frederick Co. looked ok. Running strong but not flooded or off color... MD season opened last Sat. so folks may be about, but many fish were stocked in Owens, Fishing Creeks. etc. Not sure about Hunting re: new fish. The upper stretch (above falls) where brookies live might be nice with recent rain.
I wish MD would adopt VA approach and do away with "opening day" nonsense. I know such speak is cause for drawing & quartering in some circles but it really is ridiculous (and a questionable use of public funds) when you think about it. I guess VA is more enlightened.
BTW, flats are gonna be hurting for awhile based on what I saw crossing the Susq. near Harrisburg. Damn!
Good luck whever you end up... wish I could do likewise.
I can say, with no hesitation...that the ponds around DC are fishing very sloooooow. Go on....ask me how many I got at lunch?
Think trout young man.......another week or two for the ponds imho....at least the ones up here.
Thanks for your input, y'all. I'm off to chase brookies, although Morgan run sounds tempting, too, Sebastian.
I'll post a report tomorrow evening...
