Default Looking for a good electric winch for my trailer

I'm looking to purchase a good electric winch for my boat trailer. I have a 26' Albemarle that is about 9,000 lbs. I've had a couple of Powerwinch's and I'm tired of their cheaply designed product. Does anyone know of any other manufacturer of winch products.

    Thanks,
    John

I have 25' parker and have enjoyed the manual winch on the 5 Star trailer. Didn't think I would..I had an elect one for a 23' mako and it was a pain. Just figure out how to drive on the trailer properly and crank the last few feet!

Look for a Dutton - Lainson Strongarm winch. It powers out as well as in. It is made for a marine application. I have several friend who had powerwinches and were also tire of the failures at the ramp. They swear by the Strong arm winches. I have an older model 912 powerwinch that so far has not failed. I guess that back in the day, they were a quality product. When this one fails I will be purchasing a Strongarm winch based on the recommendations. Hope this helps. I am pretty sure that Eastern trailer parts sells them.

I'll second the StrongArm. Eastern runs specials on them now / then. Be sure to double line and grease pulley well.

Most guys have given up on the newer PowerWinch. Last one I bought broke three seperate gears plus the main shaft. I had two old ones I could cannibalize for parts.

Seen more heavy boat owners using the open drum winchs designed for 4 x 4 trucks. These work well but open drum worries me.
