    I used to be really bad about the wash down but now I am in the habit of taking them in the shower with me. It drives the woman crazy but they now get rinsed every time I go. And, as stated above, lock down the drag so no water gets in, then loosen up to store.

    What lubricant and spray do you use?

    The lubricating oil I use is Pilgrim sewing machine oil its a light oil made for metal on metal and has small tube spout that will get in tight places on the reels. Salt away mixed with water at the end of the season wash everything down lightly towel dry then on rods i use pledge furniture polish wiped on keeps a wax protection on them during the off season.
