Fletchers, 4-10-05, hicks galore!

Excellent day of shad fishing at Fletchers. Caught hickories to numerous to count from 9:30 to noon, nonstop action. Size was overall small to medium. I caught several nice egg-laden females that went 18"-19", none over 20". Seemed to be an unusually high number of small jake hickories (first-time male spawners), some as small as 13". Also caught 1 herring and snagged one gizzard.

Clarity was not pretty, maybe 14", but it certainly didn't seem to hurt the bite. Saw or heard nothing about wperch being caught. Flocks of cormorants were busily pulling up herring as well as another smaller, very silvery fish.

Who was fly fishing from a green canoe with outriggers???
