Default Late opening day report, 4/19 report

Well it sure has been different this year. Went out opening day didn't hear one for an hour, then heard one going off. Moved three times to get closer as he sounded like he was in the neighbors field, hit the mouth call purred and did the whole routine. Sounded like he was coming, he gobbled and then sounded like he hung up about 75 yards out. I moved slightly away, hit the call again, and shut up. He got quiet and I heard him spitting on the way in. Foliage is very thick this year so I heard him spitting for five minutes before I saw him sneaking in. Whacked him at 8 yards. 21 pounds and 11 1/2 inch beard. My only regret is that I did not get to see him do his thing on the way in.

4/19 - took the day off after a visit from our new owners this week and a two day back to back 8 hour meeting poring through our whole organization. Went to spot number two where I had gone after bagging my bird last weekend as there was a hot one there that I heard last weekend. Well, he was still there. Snuck in before dark, set up on a logging road, and hit the call once the woods settled. Gobbler went off about 100 yards away towards the river. Heard a few hens too so I cranked it up some as I had competition. He hit the ground and went towards the hens, hens came to me but not all the way, then they split off. I heard him gobble again and he was away from the hens. Gave him a purr and he started spitting. Got to see him a 75 yards out all flared up and being a bad a$&@, he slowly worked my way. He looked at me funny a few times but never figured out what I was in my Ghillie suit. Just about when my arms were shaking off , he came inside of twenty yards and I gave him a number 6 biscuit for breakfast. Not as big as the first one but season is rocking so far!

Cubed up number 1, dropped him in House of Autry medium hot breading mix with and a coors light, dropped the cubes into my Grand Pappy fryer and fed our gang and the neighbors. Add a Legend brown and that's living!
