Opening Day 2012 Rockfish Pictures - Post here please

86 A All fish on Tandems and singles. First one relased on Friday second pic from Saturday.

Well, I had been down with bug all week, but felt better Sat am...go figure? Got late start around 1030 and had to top off fuel and headed out to BB solo and trolled three boat rods...two with tandems and one with umbrella and a few LTSpins in case I ran into birds...went N-S til BB then mostly E-W above and below. By 1700...WX was talking bad and decided to work way back towards Annap...around W side of chanl below BB I started bringing in first tandem and had just brought it onboard when the other side went down...cut engine back and grabbed rod and made sure it wasn't another pot..had one earlier...sure enough it shok and zigzagged...made sure hook set and started reeling it in...finally got it alongside and had to put on glove to lip it and use both hands to boate it and put in cooler...about 40"er and i was a happy solo fisherman! Reset and tried again, but by 1800...it was kicking up and getting nasty, so called it a good day, pulled rest of gear and had rough, wet, but happy ride back to Epping Forest...where other guys were already celebrating opening day, but had only 3 for their boatload and one other guy got 4 early with his sons...so for an old guy with old gear and old boat...I felt very good indeed...sorry only pics are of fish and my feet...still havent gotten hang of new GoPro...tough going solo too...but great opening day!

They are 9" silver but did not get a hit. We caught em on white and green and one on a white 4 or 5" spoon on the end of a white daisy chain.

had a great day caught 17 fish, never really got anything huge, biggest was 40" but ended up 5th in the coconut charlies tournament, and was great way to start the '2012' season. "tight lines to all"
