Default First try for 2012 4/29

My dad and I left Norview and headed to the mouth of the Potomac for our first shot at rockfish for the year. Was a nice run up and we had lines in the water about an hour after we left. I have never seen so little boat traffic up there on a weekend. Fishing was slow and we only had some knockdowns that didn't stay tight throughout the morning. Finally at 1:30 one of the deep umbrellas hooked up and my dad cranked in a nice 36". Fish was covered in lice and gave him a good fight. Kept working the area til 4:00 with nothing else to show for it. Things sounded like they were better up the river around #9 where people were talking about having up to 4 fish on at a time. Maybe I'll have a better shot for the Va trophy season next time out.

nice fish, I see you caught it once the sun came out, we were out there around 9 and 7 also on sunday, would not take the 4 fish on at once as gospil, seemed like a nice fish story to us, they kept asking him how many he got in and he never answered, only that it took him a long time to get his lines untangled. We caught one about the same size as yours around 830, fish are there but scattered. good luck to you next time out

Amazingly it wasn't that bad of a run Tom. About an hour and ten minutes up and then about 45 coming back once the wind turned. Probably could have gotten more fish but we forgot the rubber bands forthe planer board lines.

If you ever make that run again and need something, call me 540-809-5414. My boat is at Lewisetta Marina and you are welcome to use anything you need.

I would take a wild guess and say the storytelling came from Valley Girl.

Thank you for the offer, I will keep that in mind next time. But hopefully I won't make a dumb mistake like that again.

I do believe it was valley girl. With how easy you guessed that I will let his radio chatter go in one ear and out the other.

When you troll with over 16 lines out you have to expect tangles. I have fished with ValleyGirl and he catches fish. Here is a picture from last May 2011.

    Dave,

I remember that picture and Larry fussed that you did not let him comb his hair before you snaped the pic. I told him it looked like a picket fence around the back of the boat and how would you net a fish.
