Ran down to just north of the point on the 100 fathom line to find an unorganized/scattered weed line, put lines in and immediately had 2 nice gaffers on, one staying tight , the other came unglued. Worked the area with a few other boats for an hour or so and decided to run a few miles north in search of tuna. Lines back in on the 650, just over the 100 fathom curve in clean 71 degree water, saw a nice 40# class tuna jump my short staying tight for only a few min., worked that area for another hour or so with no luck. Continued trolling north up to the 670, again just over the 100 fathom line on the warmer side of the temp break with some other boats, had 3 lines go down hard, ended up icing down 2 nice yellowfins !worked that area for another 30 min maybe and then heard of some thick fog on the VHF, just inside of us. Not having radar i felt it would be best if we called it a day . Hit the fog about 30 miles from the inlet and motored through it all the way to the O.I. bridge !! It was fairly thick in some spots, maybe 200 yards visibility....... 30 miles of dense fog, 1 dead battery, 2 flat tires on the trailer, 1 gaffer & 2 yellows, makes for a great day

Nice work! I also can't seem to fish without something breaking that needs to be fixed. Nothing serious this time, just the suicide knob on my steering wheel and the stupid fish box macerator again.
I know the feeling. Speaking of macerator pumps, I have one that will not prime on its on. If I run a water hose into the drain of my fish box first and then hit the swith it will take over and continue to pump until I cut it off. Then when I try to restart it, it will not prime again. Any ideas on what the problem may be?
@ Earesponsible, I hope the intel i text you thursday evening was of some help to you. Kinda sucks going out there not knowing which direction to go in. The sat shots that were available early thursday morning were not much help to me due to cloud cover/fog. Im quite certain had we found the fish before 2:00 that afternoon we would had scored more than what we did, however i still had a good day and simply enjoyed being out there !! As for my adversity with my trailer, she already has 4 brand new tires & rims under her and is ready to roll again, just waiting for that WX window. In the future if you're looking for a buddy boat, please feel free to shoot me text, 757-639-3418.
Congrats. That is so awesome to have the Yellowfin up on top in that area this early. Makes for some serious choices for sure. Thanks for the report. I had texts buzzing my phone off the dash starting around 3:30 Thurs eve with the news. It killed me to not make it down this week.
I just got back last night and I'm already planning the next adventure.![]()
Only the truly ate up understand the maddness.
