    Question Reel and braid advice

    Hi guys

i'm going to get some new trolling reels for striper in the lower chesapeake bay and i'm looking at the penn gt330 or the penn senator 113H. Can anyone recommend which is best?

I'm also going to start using braid instead of mono and it seems like powerpro is a solid brand - does anyone have any views on color - green, white, red or yellow?

    Thanks

    Matt

Older Penn reels that have been tuned up will work good, TLDs if you like a lever drag. A little backing along with 300 yds of 40-65 lb. braid should work for just about anything you want to pull. I've been having alot of fun using my jigging rods for the way back lines, pulling tomics with inline sinkers. Power pro is ok but there are better braids available, color doesn't really matter imho. TLD 25s on 5-5 to 6-6 rods will pull your umbrellas or heavy mojos with trailers just fine. Good luck!

Penn 330ld is all you need. A good penn 4/0 mixed in for hauling umbrellas if you run them. Power pro is solid but also check out suffix. The new penn squal is a beefy reel as well

By saying the lower Chesapeake Bay are you refering to areas like the CBBT? A good Penn 320 gt is all you need. i'd use about 30 to 40 yards of dacron for backing. This will last a life time then add your braid 80lb to 100ld would be my preference.
