Nice, thanks for sharing, I'm headed that way in a week with my boat for a whole week. Can't wait!
Trailered the RODZILLA down to Hatteras with my boys Redhook and Swelldog to try our luck at some dolphin after hearing some stellar reports. Wx could not have been better with glassy conditions and 2' swells all day. Limit of 30 dolphin (gaffers and big bailers) by 1145! Hardly a boat in sight and had the line to ourselves. Non-stop action - couldn't even sip a beer for crying out loud. Tried some bottom fishing and couldn't get away from the big seabass (released). Got a few blueline tiles and red porgies before looking for cobia. Sorta cloudy and tough to see, but managed to see one pig as we ran him over.
Its on like donkey kong! Got a vacation rental next week down there and am fired up!

Trailered to Hatteras on Saturday AM, put in at Teach's Lair and headed out for deep water... passed by dozens of cobia finning... We trolled about 3/4 of the way to the Monitor. 2 or 3 knockdowns, but nothing. Worked our way back and ran into some 73 degree water about 5 miless from HI.. great weed line and put three gaffers in the box in about 20 minutes and then ran back in to meet the housefull of people we are hosting in Hatteras.. Ocean was flat calm...
Fished Sunday but rough as hell... came back through the inlet and hit the cooler once the boat was clean. 3-5's in the inlet.
Monday: 3-5, back to t he cooler.. Not supposed to be clearing up until Wednesday, maybe, but we have two weeks to take a run at them again.

Chris, I knew roughtly where that shoal was, but not exactly obviously! Glad i was going slow. Turned out ok and got plenty of fish. How did you end up?
Pretty photos of the Mahi. Cool how the head shape is different for the cow and bull.
What could be more mundane than dying of old age or of natural causes when there is death by misadventure to be pursued ? Skip
