With the current drought fishing was especially tough today.
I had already taken into account that this might be my first blank on
the stream but in the end a few fish did bite
I caught one up to size brown trout that had quite an injury from what I believe was a heron.
The rest of the brown trout where very small.

Roach played hard to get as the current was minimal so they had
ample time to inspect and reject the fly.
As usual I harassed the carp with nymphs and as usual they
where totally unimpressed.

What struck me today was the abundance of mayflies and the
aggressive feeding some trout showed.
Since the stream is so small, overgrown and shallow casting a dry
is virtually impossible.
Next time I might seek some more open parts of the stream to
see if mayfly action is still continuing.
It was hot and sunny today so I had to stop at the local pub
for a Zigeunerschnitzel and some dark wheat beers, heavenly food on a warm day like today.
