Thumbs up Elkton 10 pt buck back from the taxidermist

I picked him up last weekend. This buck's story was in the spring edition of the MBS' Rubs'n Scrapes magazine.
All I could say was "wow" when I first saw him. Gary Dobbins from "A Head of the Game Taxidermy" is truly an artist.
Gary made a few interesting observations about the deer - he would have had 2 or 3 droptines on the right and one or two on the left next year. His left browtine was probably going to be a split as well. I should have let the buck walk right?

He got scored as a typical 10 pter. The left G2 and G3 were considered separate points. The buck grossed 161 1/8” and netted 149 4/8”. That right G3 hurt my net score (5 3/8” difference) but he’s a keeper either way!

He had almost 40 inches of mass (38 6/8”). Inside spread was 19” and outside 22 2/8”. I am entering him in the Maryland trophy deer contest later this summer. That is why the net is important to me.

I was very privileged to harvest such a nice deer. I think it will be difficult to top this one (at least here in Maryland).

    Enjoy the pics.
    Best,
    Jim

That is a beautiful deer and most hunters never see one like that less bag one BUT there are plenty more bigger than that in MD. Don't sell yourself short and keep hunting for a bigger one. The Eastern shore has some monsters and so does Charles Co. They just don't get that big from walking in front of hunters!.............Gary
