    Default Cecil County MD

    Hey everyone,

Does anyone have any advice on stripers or trout in Cecil County MD? I checked MD DNR's page and it doesnt seem like a trout haven, but I figured there has to be something up there. I assume Elks Neck State Park has some decent striper activity, but Ive never been before. Any advice is welcome!

    Thanks,
    Dave

There is the flats as well as the susky all so the northeast river. there are other rivers on the eastern side of the bay, that are also good rivers to fish. As for fish. Theirs striper as well as white perch, larger mouth bass and smallmouth bass. Theirs a ton of fishing to be had in that area.

WOW, youve got lots of FW opportunities. big elk creek is one of the best put and take streams around. there are literally several miles of stream that are stocked REALLY heavy. if you are willing to walk, ive had great fishing until mid july. go to the office and get a map of the area, then have at it. there are smallmouth there too. octoraro creek near 222 has everything, trout in feb/march, shad all spring, smallmouth during the summer.

Im definitely willing to walk to spots. Im very used to walking the streams and rivers in MD, just not any in Cecil Co. Ill definitely get a map and check it out. What size smallies are we talking about here? Are most of the rivers in Cecil wadable or do I need a kayak/canoe? Ill be looking into Octoraro creek fo sho, thanks for that recommendation!

    Here's a crap fly I use:
Dubbed rabbit hair body, rabbit hair tail, fox wing, bead chain eyes.

    Carp seem to like orange.

Carp are especially fond of small, non-menacing crayfish patterns too.

Their most likely taking that pattern for a crayfish. Its color is of a representative crayfish.
