Default 5/23-5/24 Flounder, Blues, Croaker. No drum or stripers.

Went out Wednesday with my buddy from FL to try some red drum action at Fisherman's. It was nasty out there with the east wind and all we got was one cownose ray that fought like a huge fish. Needless to say, we weren't happy when he came boat side. We pulled the hook and got out of there at 10:15, stopping at the 3rd Island for some striper/blue action. Caught a bunch of bluefish and I lost a BIG fish (not sure if it was a blue or a striper), that had some serious weight and stayed deep in the rip. He made a strong run down current under the bridge as the tide was ripping in and threw the hook. Called it a night at about midnight and headed back.

On Thursday, we hit the HRBT and a few rubble piles for some fluke. We caught 2 keepers and 2 shorts. Hooked a couple of 6 in croaker too. Fluke caught on cut bluefish from the night before!

The wind sucked, but we were managed to avoid the storms both days. They literally wrapped around us, but never a drop of rain. Real lucky.

Thanks Kevin. I had to put him on a little something to reciprocate the favor for putting me on a 300lb Goliath Grouper last week in the Gulf of Mexico! I'd love to share pics, but there are rules....(If you know what I mean).

    Enjoy the weekend.

    Spotin' Wood:

Good report. The HRBT has been a little slow this year, I think becuase the blues have been so thick at night that other species may not want to be around. It is my favorite place to fish but I am going to stay away for a few weeks, and try some other areas.
