i bought my first boat it is a 22 foot sea swril striper 1999 with what i was told and sold on my bill of sale from nj a 2010 honda four stroke 150. when i got home i have heard some horror storyies about gas so i took it to the shop to just have it looked at and have the filters changed come to find out the motor is a 2007 not 2010. my question is has any ones ever heard of this happening i have a bill of sale stateing that its a 2010 that maryland made them sign. it all seems real shady now to me they just keep giveing me the run around this will defintly be my last buy out of state. i will be contacting a lawyer i guess in new jersey i guess i was told it has to be from their honda ran the motor and said that it all seems fine no prolbems so at least thats good. i figured i would give the boat place till tuesday to come up with a price difference nsda is 5000 difference puls their is no worrienty now. has anyone ever heard of this
Giving someone the benefit of the doubt. . . it could be the motor was NEW in 2010.
Somewhere along the line the motor had a warranty registration. I would write/call/email Honda and ask them if they have any history relating to when the motor was sold, etc. Further if it did have a warranty registration it might still be under warranty. That can be the approach that you take with Honda. Play dumb. . Tell them you were told the motor was new in 2010. If may still have 3 years of warranty left.
Even if it is a 2007 model late 2007 early 2008 it might still have some warranty left.
That does not mean that you got any less taken by the dealer but it might make you feel better.
