Ross Canyon vs. BG?

Does anyone know if the Ross Canyon series (reel numbers 1, 2 and 3) are the same as the Ross "Canyon Big Game" series (numbers 4, 5, 6, etc)?

Ross seems to have replaced the smaller "Canyon" series with the Evolution. I really like the Big Game 4, and was wondering if the now-discontinued Canyon series is the identical reel, but smaller. The discontinued line is available on eBay and the internet at a discount...

Yes,they are basically the same reel in smaller sizes.I own a Canyon 3 and its a very nice 5-7 wt reel.The drags are the same as the larger BG reels.The only problem I see with the smaller sizes is the weight.There is not much difference in weight between the Canyon 1,2,and 3.The 3 is nice on a 6 or 7 wt rod but I wouldnt want a Canyon 1 or 2 on a light rod.I feel Ross should have kept the Canyon 3 in the line-up as its a tough ,well built reel with a stronger drag than the Evolution series.

no their not the same. the drag is different and so is the way you take the spool out also the way the drag engages is different. i have a #3 canyon and canyon 4bg . i also help sell them for a friend. and have taken them copletelly apart. i like the old canyon better then the newer canyon bg.
