I stopped by my friends place along the Shenandoah river to do some smallmouth fishing. Found a great habitat with hard rocky bottoms, 2-5' of water and crystal clear water. I started out with a wacky rigged worm, got about 12 in an hour and biggest was about 15-16" and about 1-1.5lbs. Took a quick break and saw a musky on our way out. I couldn't convince him to bite in such clear water though. I came back to catch another 5 on the worm, then whipped out the fly rod and caught another 3. Water temps are perfect for active smallies, got to love low pressure holes too.
I found the same luck on the 'Doah about a week prior. One of the better smallmouth days in awhile for larger fish >14". Still have to get my muskie. Wish I could find one on the fly ....
