Very cool. Kids must have loved the show.
Followed a large (25+) pod of dolphins from inside Cartesr Cr to the bridge yesterday afternoon. Several babies swimming between parents. Great show for children on several boats around us.
I was there too. I've never seen such acrobatics. We saw a few get completely out of the water. We weren't fishing at the time, but I would imagine the fishing wasn't good when they were around. Our boys will never forget what they saw yesterday.
I was surrounded by pods of dolphin last weekend just North of the Target ship. They seemed to be all around us, everywhere we looked. Unfortunately, I only had my cell phone with me so I couldn't get very good pictures. It was no wonder the fish weren't biting . . . but they were obviously feeding on something. It was definitely a fun site to see :)
We saw 25 or so as well cobia fishing at York Spit on sunday. My 3 daughters loved it. They were jumping completely out of the water around us as well. So cool. No cobia but had fun with 20+ sharks. Just bought a GoPro Hero camera do we were able to video the dolphins as well. I never realized how big they were. One of them was every bit of 11 feet.
We saw them today as well. We were just upriver from Urbana Creek and they passed all around us heading down river. My 8yo daughter flipped out. It was awesome to see how she reacted to them.
Hey,,, as for bad fishing when they are around, I have heard this often- over 50+ yrs.. But,, I have caught Mac's several times while trolling thru Dolphin. Also, caught bottom fish while drifting as they moved thru! ( It may be odd)
Last yr, I ran up on group of dolphin off Pinak, Near P1/P2, they had croaker balled up like you see marlin do to baitfish offshore,, most circled the croaker, while 1 or 2 cut thru them and ate.. Never seen this in Bay!!
I know they were croaker because I netted a 1.5# one that had been wounded but not eaten.. ( This was a memory that will hang around for a while)
wow ... I'm sure that was a sight to see!![]()
