Start time is start time for gear in the water, regardless of traps or trot line........Gary
i have a commercial license and was wondering can you set traps out the same time as a troutline.or do you have to wait a half hour later?dont want to break the law.legal start time at this moment is one hour before sunrise for commercial license correct?some one told me that start times to set out traps are different then troutline.just wondering if he was correct.any help would be greatly appreciated.thx in advance.keep in mind these are topless traps and not pots.

Every rose has it's thorns.
so legal start time for commercial license on 5/30/12 is one hour before sunrise?i can set them earlier, but cant check them until 1 hour before sunrise correct??thx crabby and son.people have misinformed me.including ticked off commercial guys in big boats lol.who think they own the water.
Posted on another thread is the answer you are looking for. http://www.tidalfish.com/forums/show...ed-them-by-law
However, here's a more direct answer :
Commercial crabbers can set their gear as early as they wish, but legal time to remove crabs from traps is presently one half hour before sunrise to 7.5 hours after sunrise. Commercial harvesting from traps has a different harvest time than from trot lines.
Now, don't take my word for it.......call the NRP and see for yourself how many of them know the correct answer.
Additionally, the term "start time" does not appear in the regs.
