Default Another SMOKIN Red Drum Evening!!! 5-29

I debated whether or not to make the 45 minute drive to Kipto last evening due to weather forcast, but as good as the drummin has been it was worth the try. Got through the Highrise to find sporty conditions (a solid 3' chop) but doable, so we made our to the front of Fisherman's and set the hook in about 20' ft and put the spread of six rods all with hard crab. I told the crew (wife & friend) that we would fish till I could still see to go back in if it stayed or got rougher. Well the wind cut us some slack. Fished from 645 till 930pm. We waited in anticpation as the magic hour approahced and as the night before, the drum did not disapoint. It was pretty much non stop pandimonium, until like the night before we found ourselves at 930 with no rods rigged from broke off fish, lines cut from tangled lines with from multiple doubles and 1 broken rod. We were sweaty, hot, beat, bruised & tired and called it, "another night to remember!!!". The fish were still biting strong and probaly could've caught another 10, that is how good the bite has been the last few days. Did I say those fish pull like hell in the strong current! We boated 10 of 15 pulls with 6 citation to 47" With last night's trip for a total of 4 trips that started last Thursday we are 28 for 41 with 13 citations. Only saw one other boat. I hope it holds up, unforunatly I have to go away this weekend

Way to go (again!). Thanks for the report.

Are you fishing a whole crab or do you cut the crab in 1/2?

Whole hard crab on a fish finder with 8/0 Gama circle on a #80, 24" leader.

Catchem up. I am bummed, have to go away for the weekend.
