Welcome to the board. Use search function for 27Sailfish's post in the last week or two recapping presentation at MSSa (I think). Plenty of good info in it. Andy

I'll be fishing out of Point Lookout next weekend and I fully expect to catch a flounder. Now whether it's eatin' size or not is another question ...

I caught a 21"er in Chincoteague last weekend. Saw a few others caught, but not that many.

The best spots in Southern MD for this time of year are Cornfield Harbor at Point Lookout and #3 at the mouth of the Patuxent River at Solomons. Someone posted that it's early, and that is certainly true. Most flounder are caught here in July and after.

You might check the Virginia Angler board. They're catching some flounder down that way.

Good areas mentioned already but if you are going to fish in the MD Bay you can't go wrong on the Eastern Side from the Honga to the Va Line. Most good Flounder pounders are quite tight lipped. Late May through Mid Sept is the best time. Those that are saying its early are waiting for the bite in the Upper Bay. They have been biting in the area mentioned, Mid Bay for the last three to four weeks. Besides the regular baits I find that the most enjoyable way to fish for them is with a bucktail minnow combination on LTJ outfit. Add a Flounder rig with Squid and Bluefish strip in the rod holder and your good to go. Not sure why but the Lower Potomac and Pt Lookout area have been off for the last two years. Still can catch em but not as prevalent as the last ten years. Hope to get out soon and concentrate on just Flounder for the day.

Just inside of any creek dumping into a river very close to the bay. A little late but there may be some still around from spawining time. Use a floudder sandwitch on a 2/0 hook. Squid strip live minnow squid strip with a yellow skirt if you can.

Queen Sound is a good bet! If you can get past the bridge out on the flats you should do OK......
    I'll be there 6/15-6/18

Summer flounder spawn offshore in the winter, winter flounder spawn inshore rivers late winter/early spring.
