I don't know if moving off of Rte. 1 would be a great move or not. Space is great but I assure you they get a lot of business just by drive-ups. The only reason anyone would be driving past the gander location was if they were GOING anyway now that they have re-routed the highway off ramps and sliding hill road. Ought to put a big ol billboard up facing 95 to get some folks to exit. Love that shop. Grew up 5 minutes from it. Always stop by when I am up in Richmond to see my folks.

I've been a Green Top customer since I was a kid and had to get a ride a couple times a year from Chesterfield. Thier customers don't come from drive by's they come from word of mouth and good experiances. THeir people are second to non and their service is outstanding. Where you can always find a price a little more or a little less on an item by item basis, I have ALWAYS found them to have fair prices, great service and best of all they are a local bsuiness full of long-time employees!

How many times do hear about the big stores moving in a crushing the home town mom & pop's? How many of you thought Green Top's days were numbered when GM and BPS moved in only blocks away? Some of us new better. I say CONGRATULATIONS Green Top! Not that I don't go into BPS too, but I will forever be a customer of yours and if you have it, I would get it there before BPS just for the service they have provided over the years.

This is the same reason I shop at Surfside Bait & Tackle in Mechanicsville too! (Plug for my buddy Robert)

Green Top is top notch. People from Hampton Roads travel there routinely. I bought a new rifle there a couple of months ago. I had a problem with the rifle and went back up there to show them. He reached on the shelf and handed me another one and sent back the defective one to Remington. Great customer service and very good prices plus a huge inventory.

Green Top will have no problem in the new location. The back of the new building is wide open to 95 north and south. Most who travel there get there via 95 and the Sliding Hill exit, when you get off you basically hang a left into their parking lot.

They blow BPS away when it comes to selection and prices. BPS pushes the brands not what the locals use. If you want to go look at some big fish tanks, mounted animal heads and bunch of boats then head to BPS if you want a tru store for sportsmen then go to Green Top. I hope they setup a new Phat Boyz in the parking lot though...

Sounds like a good move to me. I've been going there for a long time and spent many thousands. I could never unsderstand their reluctance to expand given the cramped store. It's simply a great place to shop and the employees are some of the most knowledgeable about the product their selling I've ever encountered in a store setting. You can't get that service at BPS

Glad to here it, I have always been amazed at how much Green Top crammed into a fairly small retail space. Green top meets or beats BPS on almost all products and has the most knowledgeable, intellegent and friendly sales staff of any sporting goods store that I have been to. I do shop at Gander and BPS (I have a BPS credit card) but prefer to buy from Green Top.

Outstanding service at GT...I can return anything without questions or receipts...also, the salespeople will sell you what you NEED, not what is most expensive...more than a few times they had me put back something I was buying and sold me something that was less expensive but would do the job...also, go in there and ask about a certain type of fishing, they don't BS and talk about stuff they do not know...they will send you to the person with the experience in that particular specialty...hope they can maintain that service quality
