This is a really late post, but its less about the report and more about what happened. We were fishing Assateague island surf on 5/12/12. The entire day we had only caught rays so we were pretty bummed but around 400 pm during slack tide I was reeling in a bait when I felt a weight. He wasn't fighting to hard so i thought it was a ray so I handed off the rod to my friend who's not very experienced but I thought he would enjoy it. But for S's and Giggles I opened up the bail so it could take more line out. When he got the fish close to the surf it started fighting and I saw a silver flash... Striper! we fought the fish and landed it. But here is the kicker we never hooked the fish, he was already hooked with a rig that had already broken off and the weight was on the inside of the swivel. My hook happened to snag onto the fish finder on the rig. We got lucky and had a good eatin dinner out of it. But the point of my post is has something like this ever happened to yall? I'm just wondering because if you fish long enough your bound to see some strang things.
I threw in a black drum from the next day too.
